Is our generation abusing technology? Posted Member since August 13, Posts Television with cable, cellphones with unlimited texting and calling, nonstop access to the internet, ebooks, iPods etc. These are the things that we "must have", not only because they are useful, but they provide leisure as well.

Imagine yourself living without all those things I said up there. Without television, how will we gain awareness of what is happening in the world? Without cellphones, how will we communicate? Without acces to the internet, how will we do our school work?

Sure there are other ways to get by, like we can read the newspaper, write letters, or look through the encyclopedias at the library. But with all the hype that technology is getting today, the first questions that probably popped into your head were, Without television, how am I going to watch insert reality show here?

Without my phone, how am I going to talk to my best friends? Without the internet, how am I going to find out about the latest parties or stalk my crush in Facebook?

It helps us with our studies, we can actually learn stuff from tv shows and we use the internet for research. Cellphones have made communicating with each other easier, faster and more efficient.

Even other gadgets such as the iPods are very useful. I think we all need a little reminder once in a while that there is actually a real and beautiful world outside the world of technology.

Why not try to volunteer for a day instead of just sitting around and watching TV?
